A performance evening of new sounds and sights featuring:
THE LOOP ORCHESTRA in collaboration with the filmmaker LOUISE CURHAM presenting a new audiovisual work / CLEAN AIR CAMPAIGN in their first live performance / BRUCE LICHER film works 1979-80 and graphic art / IAN ANDREWS new video works / xNoBBQx live performance
MC: BRENT CLOUGH from ABC Radio National
THE LOOP ORCHESTRA Formed 24 years ago, their sound is created solely from tape loops made from quarter-inch tape and played on reel-to-reel tape machines - a technique that had its origins in the beginnings of electronic music in the 1950s. For HI-ATE-US The Loop Orchestrareturn to Artspace, host of their 21st anniversary performance in 2003.
LOUISE CURHAM Working solely with super 8 film, Louise Curham has collaborated with dancers and has shown films in a number of "improvised" settings (warehouses, galleries etc) in Australia and New Zealand. Recently she has collaborated with the English experimental music maker Mike Cooper. Curham also collaborated with The Loop Orchestra for a performance with Chris Abrahams at What Is Music in 2005. Her super 8 film loops have accompanied performances by The Loop Orchestra since 2004.
CLEAN AIR CAMPAIGN Emanating from the bucolic torpur of new in/authenticity Clean Air Campaign produce a ruined, degenerate sound of broken industry. Instruments may include slide guitar, glockenspiel, synthesizer, voice, Casio, tape...
BRUCE LICHER Originally from Los Angeles, now based in Arizona, Bruce Licher has featured in several post punk bands, most notably Savage Republic who having formed in the early 1980s remain a seminal downtown Los Angeles industrial/rock/experimental band. Licher mainly works as a graphic artist, designing numerous record covers. In addition to a screening of Licher's little-known experimental films of 1979 and 1980 HI-ATE-US will feature a display of a selection of Licher's graphic works.
IAN ANDREWS An independent film, video and sound artist who has been practising since 1981, Ian Andrews has worked extensively in electronic music and has also made digital animation and net art. He has had several of his essays on sound published and has spoken at several local and international conferences. Andrews has recently been concentrating on
making video work.
xNoBBQx Regressive Sydney/Blue Mountains-based guitar and drum duo of Matt Earle and Nick Dan. Freed from the rock animal's body, the ungrounded electricity unleashed by this improv theatre group has been taped to a jerking flow of primitive pounding, synchronous sludge and autistically charged rhythms.
DATE: 8pm Saturday 2 September, 2006
VENUE: Artspace, 43 - 51 Cowper Wharf Road, Woolloomooloo
COST: $12/$10 concession
You are invited to the Pulled Out Records launch party for our first two releases
The Sydney quartet of Anthony Guerra, Matt Earle, Sumugan Sivanesan and Nick Dan summon the evil spirits in this documented live ritual that runs the gamut from Neu! metal pummel to sinecore minimalism. The world seems to collapse as the goddess soma brings white light that strips any tangible object of meaning. Echoing mantras of dark energy channelled outwardly via an omnidirectional spill of force fed feedback.
Limited edition of 275 on one sided hot pink vinyl with etching by Rizili. Includes insert print on thick pink card with individually hand numbered silk screened pink on black covers.
Taking their name from Meat & Livestock Australia propaganda the Melbourne based duo of Ein and Aus transgress a spiritual reality in which grindcore is subverted towards a path of procratinat-obliteration. 46 cranial fracturing songs featuring wailing banshee vocals, a drum machine set to over 300bpm and a possesed 20th century shredder guitarist. On stage, the couple use chainsaws, exploding corpses, and other visual devices to communicate their ideas about domestic violence and civil disobedience. UnAustralians truly represent the extremely brutal end of improvised music in Australia.
Limited edition of 300 on clear red vinyl. Comes with a bonus DVD or video download (customers outside Australia) of live performances.
Both LPs will be available on the night for only $20
Also featured will be;
original liquified art by the members of Antipan and Rizili.

xNoBBQx will be doing a 'blues' rendition as per our 'Blues' album, or as Antony Milton puts it:
I seriously believe this album takes urban blues to a whole new level.
Featuring seriously damaged autistic slo-mo riffage, comatose drumming and line hum the Sydney-side duo of Mat Earle and Nick Dan. The sheer mindnumbing deliberation and persistency of these vaguely blues-inflected untuned guitar lines lull one into an hypnotic trance whilst at the same time the seeming randomness of the drummers interjections keep one anxiously on the edge of ones seat... Overall it makes Jandek sound like Joe Satriani!
I guess I'll try to do my best to fall asleep on stage.
